Océ was a global player in print solutions, born in Venlo and grown into an international brand. Now part of Canon, but its roots are here. The largest commercial employer in Venlo and surroundings. An icon of Limburg's manufacturing and intellectual power, passed on the route as living proof.
Through VillaPark
After the bustle of the city and the campus: tranquillity. VillaPark is a green buffer with stately houses and tree-lined avenues. A breath of fresh air before the end of the outward journey comes into view.
Midway stop - Grand Cafe Brouwersplaats
Julianapark is the green heart of Venlo. Park the Topolino and walk to Grand Cafe Brouwersplaats for something delicious. Coffee, cake, a drink. Well earned after a tour through the city.
The return journey passes a completely different side of Venlo. Through the villa district of Nieuw Stalberg, past the large heath of the former German Fliegerhorst, through nature by the Zwarte Water and via Genooi along the Maas back to Hout-Blerick.
Departure - Julianapark
Refreshed with coffee and cake you depart from Julianapark. The return route passes a completely different face of Venlo.
Villa district Nieuw Stalberg
Through the villa district of Nieuw Stalberg. Wide avenues, stately houses, green gardens. A quiet and well-kept part of Venlo that you would never normally see as a visitor.
The Grote Heide - Former Fliegerhorst
Past the expansive heath that once served as a German military airfield: the Fliegerhorst. Returned to nature after the war, now a beautiful walking area. The open landscape gives the Topolino all the room to shine.
Nature along the Zwarte Water
A stretch of nature along the Zwarte Water. Reeds, reflections, birds. The contrast with the city just moments ago is striking. Drive slowly and enjoy the greenery.
Via Genooi along the Maas
Via the quiet hamlet of Genooi the Maas slowly comes into view. The river accompanied you earlier on the outward journey. Now it closes the circle. Along the water back to the starting point.
